Section between Washington Park and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway will complete 6.5 miles on the western half of multi-use trail loop
Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) has published an Invitation to Bid seeking a firm to construct Westside Trail – Segment 4. This section will run 1.3 miles in length between Washington Park and the southern terminus of Westside Trail – Segment 3 north of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.
“The Atlanta Beltline continues to expand and serve residents in all quadrants of the City” said Clyde Higgs, President and CEO of Atlanta Beltline, Inc. “With a more-connected network and programming between housing, jobs, small businesses, and recreation opportunities, we are fulfilling a long-time vision and promise for westside communities.”
When this final section of the Westside Trail is complete, Atlantans will be able to walk, run, or roll 6.5 miles from Pittsburgh Yards, by Murphy Crossing, through the West End and historic southwest Atlanta neighborhoods, to Washington Park and up to Huff Road.
Construction will start in early 2023 and is expected to take up to 30 months.
Construction of Westside Trail – Segment 4 includes the design of a 14-foot-wide concrete multi-use path with 3-foot soft shoulders on each side, landscaping, fiber duct bank, retaining walls, vertical connections to adjoining streets, stainless steel handrails/guardrails, storm drainage and management (with a focus on green infrastructure), environmental remediation, lighting, and security cameras.
ABI recognizes the importance of supplier diversity and seeks to hire diverse firms and suppliers to help build out the Beltline with the goal of strengthening the economic development and viability for Minority Business Enterprises and Women Business Enterprises. ABI views equity as a business imperative that starts within the organization and transcends to the full range of our external work and partnerships.
