Spotlight on Board Chair of Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, Bentina Terry

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting some of the powerhouse women behind the scenes of the Atlanta BeltLine project.

Bentina Terry is an active leader in the Atlanta community, and she lends her insight and talent to the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership as the organization’s board chair. She spearheads Georgia Power’s operations, sales, customer service, economic and community development, and external affairs activities for 1.4 million customers across metro Atlanta, and she is responsible for the company’s work in underserved communities throughout Georgia.

“The Beltline is about the people and I am so excited about what it means for the lives of our residents and the communities the Beltline touches,” shared the Fayetteville, N.C. native. “Not only is the BeltLine a great place to exercise, socialize and spend time outdoors, it is truly connecting communities and neighbors around the city. The BeltLine is doing its part of revitalizing many of these neighborhoods and building economic opportunities for residents and businesses.”

A member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Georgia State Bar, Terry provides guidance for ABP’s future growth and the organization’s charge to fulfill, protect, and preserve the Atlanta BeltLine vision by raising funds and building partnerships that enable the Atlanta BeltLine project, engage the public, and empower residents in surrounding neighborhoods.

She serves on the board of directors for the Atlanta Beltline, Inc. and the Atlanta Beltline Partnership (2021 – 2023 chair), as well as the International Women’s Forum – Georgia, the Atlanta Police Foundation, Leadership Atlanta, the Grove Park Foundation.

In 2021, she was selected as one of Atlanta Magazine’s 500 Most Influential Atlantans and one the National Diversity Council’s 100 Most Influential Women in Energy. She has also been named one of the Greater Atlanta YWCA’s Women of Achievement (2020) and has been named one of Atlanta Business League’s 100 Most Influential Women for several consecutive years.

“It is an honor to be elected as the chair of the Board of Directors for a nonprofit that understands the challenges our neighbors face and is working to empower these families with affordable housing and sustainable economic development,” said Terry.  “The mission of ABP directly aligns with our mission at Georgia Power to support our communities where we live and work, and ultimately make them stronger and better places.”

Terry and her family enjoy going on walks and runs around the city, especially during the spring. They especially enjoy visiting the latest extension of the BeltLine on the westside of the city.
