This project will design, bid out, and build 2.4-miles of mainline trail from Buford Highway to MARTA Lindbergh Station. It will include a connection with the PATH400 trail and access points from public streets. The project will involve crossings of existing MARTA heavy rail, NSR freight rail, CSX freight rail, GDOT freeway, and Peachtree Creek.
USDOT recently awarded a RAISE grant for $25 million for 2.2 miles of the Northeast Trail and connector trails! This will be the first time the Atlanta BeltLine trail will connect to a MARTA transit station (at Lindbergh Center), fulfilling the vision to connect with the region’s larger transportation network.
ABI is coordinating engineering reviews required for a bridge crossing over the CSX railroad. ABI has also coordinated with the Department of Watershed Management and the Brookwood Hills neighborhood regarding the Brookwood Hills Conservation Easement that the mainline trail will be passing through. Investigative work to identify the location of a sewer main line will be in progress soon, as well as geotechnical related boring work for future bridge structures.
A virtual community meeting is scheduled for July 27 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Click here to register.
