The Atlanta BeltLine has published a new detailed map outlining parcels to be included in the proposed Special Service District (SSD). The SSD, if approved by Atlanta City Council, would mean a slight property tax increase up to 2.5 mills for commercial and multi-family property owners within the Atlanta BeltLine Planning Area – approximately half-mile to either side of the Atlanta BeltLine corridor.
We are awaiting the most detailed and up to date tax digest information from the Fulton County Tax Assessor’s Office to set the proposed millage rate increase, likely approximately 2.0 mills. More information – including animated explanations of why an SSD is needed, how it would work, and what the benefits would be – is at www.beltline.org/ssd.
The parcel map is a new addition to the BeltLine website. Anyone can look up their property address and see if it falls within the district. The map also includes tax parcel IDs, making it easier for commercial and multi-family property owners to look up their current tax value on the Fulton County Tax Assessor’s website. The SSD amount will be calculated based on the assessed value of the property.
Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership (ABP) have hosted four community meetings for the following stakeholders: City of Atlanta property owners, business owners, and residents. Two more will be held on March 1 and 4. The community meetings are a time for people to learn more about the SSD, ask questions, and provide comments and feedback.
The City of Atlanta announced additional opportunities for comment through Remote Tax Levy Public Hearings on the following dates and times:
