Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s Boulevard Crossing Park expansion project is one step closer to reality following a recent land acquisition in Chosewood Park. This 2.5 acre of land was purchased from WYZE Radio Station for $1,564,000 with the support of the Conservation Fund, and ABI and the City of Atlanta Parks Department closed on the property in January 2020.

The first phase of Boulevard Crossing Park opened in 2011 with two large, multi-use activity fields across 5 acres of a 20-acre plot purchased by ABI. In 2019, ABI moved forward with the conceptual design of phase two, which will incorporate the initial 5 acres into a broader 25-acre park design and also link the park directly to the Southside Trail. Three community engagement meetings were organized with the design team, led by Cambridge-based Agency Landscape + Planning and Atlanta-based Perkins and Will, to garner community input about the design of the future park. Following these meetings, the park’s concept design was unveiled on December 12, 2019, incorporating the park elements most desired by the surrounding neighborhoods.

The new acquisition, providing 450 feet of additional park frontage along Boulevard SE, completes land acquisition for the park as designed.

    1. Hi Ann – we have acquired all of the old railroad corridor possible, which is approximately 3/4 of the loop, but do not yet own all of the land needed to complete the trail. We’re still figuring out alignments and real estate in the northwest portion of the loop.

  1. Where can I find the latest updates about the northwest portion? Has the exact location of the portion of the loop been defined?

    1. Hi Andy, we don’t have many updates about the northwest corridor at this time. The final alignment has not yet been determined as studies are ongoing.
      THhnks!

  2. is there a skatepark planned at Blvd Crossing Park? can’t find any info online but hear it from a couple folks now. Not sure if they’re confusing it with Arthur Langford Skatepark.

    1. Hi Tom – we don’t have a start date for construction yet. We are finalizing the concept design and need to secure funds for construction.

      1. Hey Jenny!

Any word on when construction will start yes?

I notice they just put gravel across the road from the CoA machines. What’s going on with that?

        1. Hi Ricky – we don’t yet have a date for a construction start. I’m not sure about the gravel.
          Thanks!

  3. Also noticed a photo for the park breaking ground ceremony… when did that happen?
The aerial picture looked very dated.. it looks like the AHA houses were still there, and the new apartments were definitely not there!

    1. Hi Ricky – we had a groundbreaking in May 2010 for the first phase of the park. Those soccer fields opened in 2011. Perhaps you’re looking at one of those photos?
      Thanks!
