Life on the Atlanta BeltLine: Nina

Every day, Ms. Nina Goody wakes up to a bustling household filled with the sounds and activities of her four grandchildren, all of whom live with her. Several years ago, she knew she needed to find a bigger home for her family. She settled on a beautiful home in the heart of the Westview community situated on a MARTA bus line, a necessity for her work. With a large, older home came a few repair issues that needed to be tackled. When Ms. Goody heard from her neighbors about Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s program to supply funds to owner-occupants to rehab their homes to be safe, warm, and dry, she immediately applied. Hear all about her story in the video below.

In 2016, Ms. Goody took care of a wide range of repairs including: roof work, new exterior and storm doors, some siding replacement, new gutters and downspouts, patched drywall, new carbon monoxide detector, and new foundation vent screens. This rehab work enabled Ms. Goody and her grandchildren to stay in the home that is perfect for them and in a neighborhood they love – and just a short walk from the Westside Trail.

Ms. Goody’s family extends beyond the walls of her home – she has served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for years. She’s seen girls come through the program and go off to college as young women.

Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s owner-occupied rehab program has helped 14 homeowners and invested over $200,000 in Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods. 2. I am an owner of house and rent it out thru Atlanta Housing. Can this program assist me? How can I receive more information about area that my house is in?

    1. Hello Ms. Howell,

This particular program has closed, but our best recommendation is to reach out to Invest Atlanta (investatlanta.com). They have various housing assistance programs that may work for you.
