Ernst & Young Executive Michelle E. Nelson Appointed to Atlanta BeltLine Board

ATLANTA – Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle E. Nelson to its Board of Directors. Ms. Nelson was appointed by Invest Atlanta to serve as the Board Member representing general business experience. The position was previously held by Elizabeth Chandler, whose term expired in May 2016. Invest Atlanta has four appointees to the ABI Board.

Ms. Nelson currently serves as Talent Engagement & Operations Leader with Ernst & Young LLP in their global practice providing strategic counsel to executive leaders and collaborative project leadership to multiple internal functions spanning 100 countries driving operational alignment and processes efficiencies to enable successful performance. Ms. Nelson’s experience with Ernst and Young also includes serving as an Ethnicity Leader in the Americas practice where she consulted on diversity and inclusiveness initiatives to drive implementation of strategic plans and metrics. During the span of her 16-year career with Ernst & Young, she has held leadership roles in both the Americas and global practices in its offices in both the U.S. and United Kingdom.

Ms. Nelson brings to the Atlanta BeltLine Board of Directors 20 years of experience in helping organizations to develop and implement high-impact global human resource models, with a well-known expertise for successfully translating executive vision and strategy into organizational operations and structure.

She is also a former member of the Atlanta BeltLine Tax Allocation District Advisory Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for the Fulton County/City of Atlanta Land Bank Authority.

Ms. Nelson received her Master of Business Administration from Tulane University as a Morton A. Aldrich fellow and her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Grambling State University as a Presidential Merit scholar. She is an Atlanta native and resides in southwest Atlanta.

“Ms. Nelson’s experience will be a significant asset to the Board’s direction going forward,” said John Somerhalder, Chairman of the ABI Board of Directors. “We also thank Beth Chandler for her dedicated service. She has been a valuable member of the Board for nearly eight years.”

Ms. Nelson’s appointment to the Board is effective immediately and her first Board meeting will be on August 9, 2017.
