Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Hosts Sixth Annual Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K & Play Day

Run/Walk Presented by Delta Air Lines to Pass Through Historic Westside Neighborhoods and Be Followed by Second Play Day of 2016

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Presenting Sponsor Delta Air Lines invite runners of all fitness levels to participate in the 6th annual Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K on Saturday, July 16th beginning at 7:30 a.m. The day’s festivities start at West End Park where hundreds of participants ranging from avid runners to families will run/walk through the historic West End and Westview neighborhoods, traveling along the West End Trail, which was the first segment of the Atlanta BeltLine to open to the public.

Following the road race, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy a variety of sports and fun fitness activities led by trained coaches and instructors at the second Atlanta BeltLine Play Day of 2016. Packed with fun for the whole family, Play Days are free and presented in partnership with Atlanta ContactPoint, a nonprofit established to engage children and adults through the power of play.

The Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K is part of the 2016 Run.Walk.Go! Race Series, which engages the public by providing opportunities to explore various trail segments of the Atlanta BeltLine while staying active. Race proceeds will benefit the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, the nonprofit organization charged with raising funds and building broad-based support for the Atlanta BeltLine. Joining Presenting Sponsor Delta in supporting the race are Major Run.Walk.Go! Race Series sponsors REI, Astra, Kaiser Permanente, AJC/Living Intown, West Stride and Kroger. Play Day sponsors are NEEF and Toyota.

Participants are encouraged to join or register as a team, as the Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K will provide awards to the largest, fastest and top fundraising teams. The Atlanta Police and Atlanta Fire Rescue Departments will also face off in a friendly team challenge with the overall winner receiving a trophy.

What: Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K and Play Day

Enjoy a scenic run/walk through the historic West End and Westview neighborhoods. Runners, walkers, strollers and dogs are welcome. This is a “rain or shine” event.

When: Saturday, July 16th: Race starts at 7:30 a.m.; Play Day to follow road race until 2:00 pm.

Cost: $35 (early bird registration of $30 available through June 16th)

Registration for both the Westside 5K and Eastside 10K (December 3rd) is available for $65 through July 16th. Atlanta BeltLine Play Day is free to the public.
