The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is teaming up with Rival Entertainment to deliver a first-ever festival experience that embraces the spirit and culture of the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade, which debuted in 2010 and drew more than 20,000 participants last year.
The Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival at Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark from 5PM to 11PM on Friday, Sept. 11 and 11AM to 11PM on Saturday, Sept. 12, will place live entertainment, a food truck rally (with the most popular mobile eateries in the city), adult beverage concessions, a college football sports bar, a kids’ area, lantern-making workshops hosted by premier local artists, a pet-friendly zone, a Lantern Parade viewing party and more distinctive experiences at the halfway point of the Lantern Parade route, which marches from Irwin Street at Krog Street Market to Piedmont Park.
Rival Entertainment has developed a reputation as the company behind many of Atlanta’s best larger-than-life experiences, including Candler Park Music & Food Festival, Outkast #ATLast Reunion concerts and the annual Beltline Boil. Josh Antenucci, a principal at the live event promotions and production firm, has taken a personal interest in furthering the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership’s goal of providing unique experiences in the corridor.
“The magnitude of the impact of the Eastside Trail in connecting our neighborhoods and communities is profound and trail-based activations like The Lantern Parade and Art on the BeltLine are exciting attractions”, says Antenucci. “I am proud to work alongside the leaders of the Atlanta BeltLine movement to create social and relevant community events, on this corridor today, and around the 22 mile loop looking forward.”
The newly formed alliance brings a professional large-scale event management capacity to one of the region’s most popular projects — a budding 22-mile corridor of trees, trails and transit that is becoming known for its ability to catalyze culture and forge new connections.
Chuck Meadows, Executive Director of the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, points out that “the success of our organization is defined by the partnerships we create with community groups, companies and individuals. Our new partnership with Rival Entertainment on the Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival is a great example of how we can work together to bring new experiences to the Atlanta BeltLine in a collaborative, financially sustainable way.” Proceeds from the event will go to support Art on the Atlanta BeltLine artists, and lighting for the Eastside Trail.
Early and funding support from Atlanta’s own Sweetwater Brewing Company and imported SVEDKA Vodka will boost the event’s goal to support public art through Art on the Atlanta BeltLine. Additional sponsorships, vendors and other partners will be managed in a way that preserves the organic effervescence the Lantern Parade has become known for. The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership will lead the effort to recruit corporate participation and involvement from major organizations.
