CoronaVirus Outbreak Rent Relief

City of Atlanta Housing Authority
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the Atlanta Housing Authority/AH have announced a rent relief effort for seniors, families, and other residents who live in AH owner or subsidized units and have lost income as a result of the COVID19 pandemic. Residents can request an interim recertification of their income by contacting AH. Upon approval, they can receive rent reduction up to 100% of the contract rent for the months of April & May. AH will make the payment directly to the property owner or management company within 15 days of approved request. Repayment is not required.

Residents of AH-owned high rises, scattered site housing developments, or any AH-subsidized unit within a multifamily community will need to contact the on-site property management staff to request a hardship interim recertification.

***EVICTION ASSISTANCE***
The City of Atlanta will halt all evictions for the next 60 days for properties owned by the Atlanta Housing Authority. The moratorium does not apply to private property owners.

Metro Atlanta counties are handling evictions on a case-by-case basis. Although most courts have suspended eviction proceedings, landlords can still file for evictions in most if not all jurisdictions. Renters experiencing hardship due to events related to COVID19 are encouraged to reach out directly to their landlord/property owner.
