REI’s Outdoor Yoga on the Atlanta Beltline

Are you interested in an introduction to yoga, or do you practice yoga already? Do you love being outside? If so, join us for a weekly yoga session that will fill all of those needs! Our professional instructor will lead you through a multilevel flow beyond the walls of the studio. These sessions will help build a solid foundation for those new to the practice, and provide opportunities for established practitioners to deepen that foundation and build upon it. The sessions will emphasize the integration of breath and movement to create the mindfulness that separates yoga from other exercises. We will do this all while enjoying the sky and sun instead of ceilings and fluorescent lights: grass/earth instead of floors (feel free to venture off your mat): and the company and community of others seeking to expand their quality of life. Take your yoga outside with us every week! Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

  • Gain increased body awareness and posture
  • Combine traditional outdoor fitness activities with strength building exercises for increased performance
  • Change up your routine to include exercise and activity utilizing resources found in the outdoors

* This is class is open to residents who live in neigbhorhoods adjacent to the new Westside Atlanta Beltline Trail. Please see ticket information for more details.

Mayor’s Summer Reading Club Book Read at the Atlanta BeltLine Center

Join us for the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club at the Atlanta BeltLine Center!

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Club is a program for children ages birth to five and their families that takes place in various locations throughout the city of Atlanta each summer. In May 2019, the city announced a city-wide book choice for infants and a book for infants and children ages 2-5 to share with their families. The city engages its direct service program partners – the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership in this case – to distribute copies of the books at no cost to children, and to introduce the story via programs, art projects and activities to the parents and children they serve. Throughout the summer, libraries, summer programs, museums, farmers’ markets, and other institutions in and around the City of Atlanta hold “book club reads” to model research based methods of reading books with children and host enrichment events based upon the stories. The books come to life as children enjoy arts and crafts activities, drama exercises, and other hands on activities designed to make the language in the stories meaningful to children. ABP will host a July book club read at the Center. Our Executive Director Rob Brawner has graciously offered to read In My Granny’s Garden by Pearl Cleage and Zaron W. Burnett, Jr. to the children.

This event is free and open to the public, but please register here so that we know to expect you.
