On National Walking Day, Wednesday, April 6, 2016, the Metro Atlanta American Heart Association and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership are joining forces to encourage Atlanta to reduce a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke by committing to incorporating physical activity into their daily routine. Both organizations are encouraging Atlantans to meet them at Ponce City Market at noon for a 30 minute walk on the Atlanta BeltLine to celebrate National Walking Day.
This year, the American Heart Association is working to hit a national goal of 100,000 minutes walked across America. Everyone who participates by walking on the Atlanta BeltLine or at a separate location is asked to “donate” the minutes walked by posting on social media with the hashtag #AHALaceUp. Updates and highlights will be posted all day.
