Aluma Farm farmstand at the intersection of the Westside Trail and Allene Avenue. Our partners at our urban farm, Aluma Farm, on the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail want to make sure that everyone has access to fresh, healthy produce during these uncertain times. They are now offering produce for sale online. Orders can be picked up at the farmstand starting this Friday, March 20 between 3 and 6 p.m. To help ease the burden of folks who are out of work or otherwise in need, they are offering a Sliding Scale payment option. They also offer 50% off on all purchases made with EBT as a standard practice.
Located at 1150 Allene Avenue, SW, Atlanta, 30310 in the Adair Park, Oakland City, and Capitol View neighborhoods, the urban farm offers easy access to fresh food for neighbors in the immediate vicinity and beyond.
You can visit www.alumafarm.com/csa-share to pre-order small and large vegetable boxes, microgreens, edible flowers, and honey for Friday pick-up at the farm. This week, the Large Vegetable Box contains Gem Lettuce, Carrots, Frisee Lettuce, Purple Celery, and Baby Fennel. The Small Vegetable Box has just the Gem Lettuce, Carrots, and Frisee Lettuce. Andrea and Andy with Aluma Farm will pack up a few extra shares for people who didn’t get a chance to pre-order or may not have heard about it, but might be walking by the farmstand on Friday. They will accept Venmo, CashApp, Paypal, and Apple Pay. No cash.
You can also sign up for Aluma Farm’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) subscription, which is separate from the pre-orders for pick-up on Friday. The CSA is still scheduled to start up April 16th. While there are spots remaining, they are going fast. The CSA is the best way to ensure access to the freshest produce for the rest of this year.
The farmstand is still scheduled to open on April 16th for their regular hours every Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m.
Sliding Scale Payment Option
The sliding scale for the pre-orders is as follows:
- The Helping Hand for those who have lost work during this outbreak
- The Farmer Friend for those who can pay the full cost of the produce
- The Community Supporter who can pay a little extra to help support our neighbors in these difficult times
Patrons are asked to please pay at the level you are able.
Paying with EBT
Individuals and families with EBT will pay at the farmstand and the total cost will be 50% of the Farmer Friend price. To pay with EBT, send an email to alumafarm@gmail.com with what products you would like to buy and they will have them ready for you at the farmstand on Friday. Add on options include edible flowers and supergreens (to liven up your home cooking and add extra nutrition) and local, organic honey.
From the farmers, Andrea and Andy: “Thank you all for being such amazing community members and supporters of our farm. We are committed to serving you as best we can throughout this outbreak and beyond! Let’s work to keep each other safe and healthy. Together we will make it through.”
