Ralph David Abernathy Blvd Complete Streets Public Meeting June 22

WHAT: Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. will hold a Southwest Study Group public meeting to present and seek feedback on a visioning plan for Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard streetscapes, between Cascade Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, developed from the input we received at our April 17 public meeting. As we shift the focus from visioning to concept development, we will also seek input regarding which aspects of the visioning plan should be prioritized for implementation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The Southwest Study Group includes residents of the Westview, West End, Adair Park, Pittsburgh, Mechanicsville, Oakland City, Bush Mountain, Capitol View, Capitol View Manor and Sylvan Hills neighborhoods along the Atlanta BeltLine.

WHEN: The meeting will be held on June 22, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

WHERE: KIPP Strive Academy, 1444 Lucille Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. The location is accessible by MARTA Bus #67. Please consider biking or walking. Parking is available onsite.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:  Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. is managing the Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard Complete Streets project on behalf of the City’s Renew Atlanta infrastructure bond program. The project will design and construct street modifications from Cascade Avenue to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The project intention is to improve the safety of the corridor for all users, by providing non-motorized connections between the neighborhoods, the activity center at Cascade Avenue, the West Lake MARTA station, and the Atlanta BeltLine’s Westside Trail.

  1. Greetings

A Historical Marker entitled “The Extended Line August 1864” was removed during construction of the beltline at Ralph David Abernathy at the former Rail Road Cut and juncture of MLK and Cascade
at the bridge at the Kroger Citi Center.

It should have been put back up. It came down when the heavy road graders were rumbling along there.

    it cost the Taxpayers $5,000.00

    It should be immediately replaced.

    1. Hello Mr. Perry,
Good news! The sign should go back up in approximately a month. It appeared to be damaged, so the State Historical Society in Savannah salvaged it. They shipped the sign back to us at Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. along with a new pole.
      Thank you for reaching out,
      Jenny
