Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Announces Presenting Sponsor for 2017 Free Fitness Classes

Last week, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership (ABP) announced resumption of its Free Fitness Class Series for 2017. Free fitness classes are conducted throughout the week at parks and other locations along the Atlanta BeltLine. The Partnership announced today that Kaiser Permanente will be the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s class series.

ABP has offered free fitness classes since 2013 to connect people to the Atlanta BeltLine and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle. Free class offerings include traditional exercise disciplines like yoga, aerobics, running/walking/hiking, road and mountain cycling, boot camp-style workouts, and skateboarding. Unique fitness classes like Hiking with Dogs, Caribbean-style workouts, and Sunset and Sunrise Hikes are also available. All classes are led by certified fitness instructors.

“Kaiser Permanente is a major supporter of Atlanta BeltLine health and fitness initiatives,” said Rob Brawner, ABP’s Executive Director. “We appreciate their generous sponsorship of our free fitness class series and the positive health outcomes these classes help bring about for residents of Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods.”

“Kaiser Permanente continues to invest in the Atlanta BeltLine because we believe that exercise is medicine, and more than a million metro Atlantans use the Atlanta Beltline trails to run, walk, cycle and skate each year,” said Madelyn R. Adams, director of Community Benefit for Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. “For years, we have offered free health and wellness classes to the public in our medical centers. Supporting the free fitness classes along the Atlanta BeltLine seemed like a natural extension of that work and our broader commitment to improving the health of the communities we serve.”

More information on the Partnership’s free fitness classes is available at beltline.org/fitsignup, and all classes are listed on the Atlanta BeltLine event calendar at beltline.org/events.  Some classes require pre-registration.

Additional sponsors of the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Free Fitness Class Series are Mountain High Outfitters, WellStar Atlanta Medical Center, Whole Foods, and Healthways.  Program partners include the Georgia State University College of Education and Human Development, Park Pride, the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, and REI.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is interested in talking with individuals or organizations who would like to lead future free fitness class. Interested parties are invited to complete this online application.

About the Atlanta BeltLine and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership

The Atlanta BeltLine is a sustainable redevelopment project that is among the largest, most wide-ranging urban revitalization programs currently underway in the United States. The project is creating a 22-mile loop of public parks, multi-use trails and transit along a set of historic railroad corridors.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership was formed in 2005 to provide the collaborative platform from which to advance the Atlanta BeltLine project. The Partnership works with Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods, businesses, community and faith organizations, and other groups to raise general awareness of, and broad-based support for, the Atlanta BeltLine. We enable the project by raising money from the private sector and philanthropic community, engage the public through programming, events and activities, and work to empower the residents of Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods via partnerships that bring about positive outcomes in the areas of health, housing and economic opportunity. For more information, visit beltline.org.
