Atlanta BeltLine Run Club takes off with first-ever group run!

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership’s Running Series kicked off the first Atlanta BeltLine Run Club on February 22, 2012!  Over 70 runners laced up their shoes for a fun run/walk through the Virginia Highland neighborhood and stretches of the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail along Piedmont Park.

Over 70 runners gathered outside Loca Luna in Amsterdam Walk for the first group run in the monthly Atlanta BeltLine Running Club series.

The group set out at 6:30 p.m. from the parking lot of Loca Luna where you can access the Atlanta BeltLine, led by Tes Sobomehim with Running Nerds, for a nice 3.2 mile run! Several folks sported their dri-fit t-shirts from previous races they had run as a part of the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series, which added to the spirit and energy of the club.

Running is always better when you socialize afterwards (ask just about any runner), so Loca Luna provided food and beverages and space on the front patio for everyone to hang out. We really appreciate Loca Luna’s support of the Atlanta BeltLine! You can find them directly on the Atlanta BeltLine corridor in Amsterdam Walk off of Monroe Drive.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership started the running series last year with three races in different neighborhoods on the southwest, northside, and eastside. The idea for the Running Club is to meet once a month, hosted by a great establishment close to the Atlanta BeltLine, where everyone of all ages and speeds are invited to come out for a fun night of running /walking and socializing!

Connect with other runners and stay up to date on the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series facebook page and see an album with the rest of the photos from the Loca Luna run.
