Northwest Trail-Segment 1
This section of trail is 0.8 miles in length, beginning at the western edge of Peachtree Park Apartments and running south along Peachtree Creek to Kinsey Court.
This segment is closed for construction. Trespassing on active construction sites is prohibited.
The full Northwest Trail will run for 4.3 miles from the terminus of the Westside Trail to the beginning of the Northeast Trail.
Project Status
The trail on the north and south sides of Peachtree Creek is now under construction and the entire segment is now under construction. We have completed the tree clearing and utility relocations on both sides of the creek and have started retaining walls as well as underground stormwater infrastructure. Parking lot reconfigurations on the apartment side of the creek is also complete. The bridge foundations are complete, and the towers of the bridge have been erected. We anticipate the superstructure of the bridge will be complete May 1st, 2025. The project is targeting completion in June of 2026.
Project Timeline
June 2022: Survey work began.
August 2022: Prioritized alignment announced for the Northwest Trail.
October 2022: Survey work completed.
January 2023: 60% design completed.
October 2023: Reeves Young hired as Construction Manager at Risk.
January 2024: 90% drawings completed.
May 2024: Reeves Young began construction activities.
Fall 2024: Full construction began.
June 2026: Target completion date.
