Building Capital for the Future of the Region
Critical to the Atlanta BeltLine's early success is a significant commitment of private charitable dollars to fund greenspace acquisition and development and trail construction. Private support of the Atlanta BeltLine will ensure that the city can take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity now and in the years to come.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership kicked off a $60 million capital campaign in 2007 to underwrite the early development of key parks and trail segments along the Atlanta BeltLine and demonstrate this project’s potential to transform Atlanta. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed serves as Honorary Chair, and the campaign is co-chaired by a stellar group of Atlanta leaders:
- Jim Kennedy, Chairman of Cox Enterprises, Inc.
- Phil Kent, Chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
- Herman Russell, Chairman of H. J. Russell and Company
- Ray Weeks, Chairman of Weeks Robinson Properties
The campaign is experiencing tremendous success. With Mayor Reed and the committed volunteer leadership committee at the helm, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has raised nearly $38 million towards the goal from more than 100 donors, including lead gifts from many of Atlanta’s largest foundations and corporations.
Campaign contributions are tax-deductible and will underwrite the early development of key parks and trail segments along the Atlanta BeltLine and demonstrate this project’s potential to transform Atlanta. Private support of the Atlanta BeltLine campaign will ensure that Atlanta can take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
