A Neighborhood Takes Flight
Pittsburgh Rise is a one-of-a-kind neighborhood festival created to celebrate the budding revitalization of a series of neighborhoods along the Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail corridor.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation has invested in several southwest Atlanta communities, including Pittsburgh, for more than a decade. Now, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is teaming up with the Casey Foundation to put on this major event to capitalize on the positive energy and strong sense of community in this part of town.

We have many events and activities planned for the festival. Learn more about each below.
Pittsburgh Rise Balloons with a View
At the center of Pittsburgh Rise is an extremely rare feature in an urban environment – hot-air balloon* rides! Balloons Over Georgia
will deliver and operate three hot air balloons, offering tethered rides to ticketed festival-goers. This will give the public a unique opportunity to see many of the 45 neighborhoods the Atlanta BeltLine connects from high above the city. *weather permitting
To round out the festival and incorporate Atlanta BeltLine impact areas, Pittsburgh Rise will feature themed zones that focus on health, housing, and hope (economic opportunity). There will also be designated areas for neighborhood associations and civic organizations to recruit and fundraise.
Southside Atlanta Home Tour
Pittsburgh Rise will introduce Atlantans to the great housing opportunities available in the surrounding neighborhoods, with a tour of homes powered by the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership tour bus
. Get more information on the tour or to register
Southern Crescent Choir Celebration
The community-based event planning committee wanted to involve the neighborhoods by providing an uplifting and entertaining experience for the crowd at Pittsburgh Rise, and a choir celebration was the answer! Open to all faiths, this event will be supported by the Atlanta BeltLine Faith-Based Collaborative
, and offer houses of worship and faith-based community organizations an opportunity to showcase their talents.
Southside Checkmate Championship
Competitive chess is emerging as a great way to both engage and intellectually stimulate youth. Metro Atlanta Chess Partners
has successfully hosted youth chess tournaments in the community, and will convene a 50-player U.S. Chess Federation
Tournament event at Pittsburgh Rise. Click here

Southside Trail 3-on-3 Tip-Off
The Casey Foundation and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership both focus on ways to engage youth. Pittsburgh Rise will team up with the two Centers of Hope
in the area to put on a three-on-three basketball tournament, with the championship game scheduled to occur during the height of the festival.
Taste of the Southside
No festival is complete without great food, and what better way to provide great options than to allow local restaurants to set up and sell their most popular menu options! The Taste of the Southside will be a unique culinary bazaar, with a host of eateries concentrated in a designated area that festival-goers can browse at their leisure.
