FitWit has teamed up with TOMS Shoes to raise awareness for children throughout the world who lack proper footwear. On April 29, communities all around the world will be joining together in various projects to support the campaign. All fitness levels are welcome to join us in ditching our shoes for a free 45-minute fitness class (6:30 – 7:15 pm) with after-party social at Parish in Inman Park. And double-bonus – Parish is graciously donating 10% of the food and drink bill back to The FitWit Foundation!
Did you know . . .
- Providing children with school uniforms – which often includes shoes – can increase attendance by 62%.
- Podoconiosis is a debilitating disease that causes extremely painful swelling of the feet and legs. Podo affects more than 4 million people in at least 15 countries. Podo can be prevented by wearing shoes and practicing good foot hygiene.
- When shoes are integrated into programs with larger community development goals, they empower children and their families to get the care and support they need.
