Groundbreaking Ceremony to Kick Off Construction on First Section of the Southside Trail

WHAT: A groundbreaking ceremony will be held to celebrate the first phase of the Southside Trail to go into construction, known as Southside Trail-West. The event will take place where the westside and southside corridors meet in between Allene Avenue and University Avenue. Southside Trail-West is a 0.75-mile portion of the overall four-mile southside corridor. Southside Trail-West was selected as the first segment in a phased approach to construction due to its connection between three open and emerging job centers – Pittsburgh Yards, Murphy Crossing, and Lee + White.

WHEN: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11 a.m.

Following the ceremony, media tours will be available of the Southside Trail-West segment.

Please note the corridor is an unfinished graded railroad gravel surface. Sturdy shoes recommended.

WHERE: On the southside corridor east of Allene Avenue and west of Metropolitan Avenue at the following GPS coordinates: 33.721306, -84.410917. Parking will be available at The Bakery, located at 825 Warner Street, 30310. Limited street parking is also available.
