Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Announces First Free Homeowner Empowerment Workshop of 2017

Workshops are Designed to Help Residents in Atlanta BeltLine Neighborhoods Make Informed Home Ownership Choices

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership (ABP), Home Place Consulting and Citizens Trust Bank are partnering to provide a series of free homeowner empowerment workshops for residents in neighborhoods along the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail and other communities. The initial workshop is set for Saturday, March 11, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at KIPP STRIVE Academy, 1444 Lucile Ave. SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30310.

Last fall, ABP and Home Place Consulting provided a series of free workshops designed to ensure that existing homeowners in Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods are equipped to take advantage of available resources to stay in their homes, or knowledgeably evaluate opportunities if they are considering selling. The workshops were well attended and, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Citizens Trust Bank, additional free workshops are being planned for the spring of 2017.

“The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is committed to helping ensure residents are able to remain in their communities and benefit from the investments being made in the Atlanta BeltLine,” said Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Executive Director Rob Brawner. “We are proud to partner with Home Place Consulting and Citizens Trust Bank to offer these workshops to homeowners who may not be aware of the resources available to them.”

“Living our legacy of financial empowerment through home ownership, we are honored to serve the community in order to expand the number of people that we help educate” says Yulanda Munford, Citizens Trust Bank Mortgage Division Manager. “We are excited to partner with the Atlanta BeltLine to bring the homeownership workshops to potential homebuyers and homeowners in the Atlanta market,” added Munford.

Led by Tia McCoy, a homeownership trainer and consultant, these free, 2-hour community workshops help homeowners learn about:

  • Resources available to help homeowners stay in their homes
  • Homeowner occupied rehab programs
  • Property taxes and tax exemptions
  • Homeowners insurance and code enforcement
  • How to calculate the value of your home
  • What investors do with homes they purchase
  • How to get a fair price if you sell
  • How to be engaged in your community

About the Atlanta BeltLine and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership

The Atlanta BeltLine is a sustainable redevelopment project that is among the largest, most wide-ranging urban revitalization programs currently underway in the United States. The project is creating a 22-mile loop of public parks, multi-use trails and transit along a set of historic railroad corridors.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership was formed in 2005 to provide the collaborative platform from which to advance the Atlanta BeltLine project. The Partnership works with Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods, businesses, community and faith organizations, and other groups to raise general awareness of, and broad-based support for, the Atlanta BeltLine. We enable the project by raising money from the private sector and philanthropic community, engage the public through programming, events and activities, and work to empower the residents of Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods via partnerships that bring about positive outcomes in the areas of health, housing and economic opportunity. For more information, visit beltline.org.
