Intersection of Eastside Trail and Kirkwood Avenue to Close

Detour routes will be established to route traffic around the Reynoldstown closure.

WHAT: Atlanta BeltLine contractors will continuously close the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue at Eastside Trail. The closure will begin Monday morning, August 22 through September 21.

WHEN: Monday August 22 at 6 a.m. through September 21 at 9 p.m.

WHERE: Intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and Eastside Trail (between Kenyon Street & Holtzclaw Street, Reynoldstown)

ADVISORY: During the closure period, detour routes will be established to route traffic around the Reynoldstown closure. The detour routes are as follows:

  • Eastbound on Kirkwood Avenue: Turn right on Chester Avenue, left on Fulton Terrace, and left on Gibson Street to Kirkwood. Alternatively, vehicles may turn left on Kenyon Street, right on Wylie Street, and right on Flat Shoals Avenue back to Kirkwood.
  • Westbound on Kirkwood Avenue: Turn left on Gibson Street, right on Mauldin Street, and right on Chester Avenue back to Kirkwood.

Variable message boards will be posted two weeks in advance for traffic flowing in both directions.

PROJECT:  Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. is constructing the Eastside Trail extension from the trail’s current terminus at Irwin Street to Kirkwood Avenue. As part of this work, the underground stormwater structure beneath the area will be rehabilitated, and a new storm line will connect to the structure. In addition, a speed table will be installed at the intersection of the Eastside Trail and Kirkwood Avenue as a traffic calming measure to facilitate safer crossing where the trail meets Kirkwood.
