Atlanta BeltLine Seeking Artist for Arthur Langford Jr. Skatepark Mural Being Funded by the Coca-Cola Company

Artist will work alongside Atlanta Public School students to create a public work celebrating community

ATLANTAThe Atlanta BeltLine is looking for an experienced artist to work alongside high school students to design and construct a large-scale mural. The chosen artist will help direct local students from Carver High School in developing, selecting, and implementing a final design for a mural within the Arthur Langford Jr. Skate Park. . Funding for the mural is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company. The selected artist can receive up to $15,000 to cover artist fees and design and project costs

The Arthur Langford Jr. Skatepark officially opened on December 11th in the Joyland neighborhood in southwest Atlanta. The mural will be placed on the current recreational building within the park. Site visits to view and photograph the mural location are scheduled for January 27 at 6:00 PM and January 30 at 2:00 PM.

While there is no specific theme for the mural, interested artists should consider themes of togetherness and neighborhood history. The mural should embody the spirit of the neighborhood emphasizing community and togetherness. The mural should capture the moments that represent the heart and soul of the neighborhood while celebrating the connection of friends, family, neighborhood and community.

Artists should have experience painting outdoor murals as well as pass a background check allowing them to work alongside students. Other guidelines and details can be found within the Request for Qualifications. The deadline for proposals is Monday, February 8, 2016 by 3:00 PM.

  1. We have a great group of 9th grade skaters that practically live at the O4W skate park. Would their input be considered? These are some awesome young men that are also artists and would love to help.
