Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. Seeking Proposals for Murphy Crossing Site

Engagement aimed to activate jobs and economic development of key Westside Trail parcel

ATLANTA – Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) is seeking proposals from qualified firms, teams or individuals to perform an assessment to support ABI’s effort to position a key Westside Trail property to attract jobs and improve economic conditions. The “Murphy Crossing” site, as it is known, is comprised of parcels that once held the State Farmers Market, adjacent to the Westside Trail between Murphy Avenue and Allene Avenue in southwest Atlanta.

With the release of this request for proposals, ABI will engage a consultant to craft an analysis and set of recommendations focused on activating the Murphy Crossing site and adjacent neighborhoods. Analysis will consider the potential redevelopment of existing buildings, inclusion of workforce housing, and scenarios to encourage job growth. The sixteen acre site is a prime economic development node for its proximity to MARTA rail lines, the Westside Trail and future Atlanta Streetcar transit, the Atlanta University Center, the Allene Avenue Urban Farm site, and the historical Adair Park, West End, Washington Park, and Westview neighborhoods.

The Westside Trail, currently under construction, is a 3-mile transit corridor that connects four parks and four schools. Construction is to be completed in 2017 and will include a multi-use trail, eleven access points, handrails, lighting, landscaping, and preparation for future Atlanta Streetcar transit infrastructure.

Proposals are due on November 13. A pre-proposal meeting will be held on Monday, October 26. More details can be found online in the Request for Proposals.
