Atlanta BeltLine is so much more than just trails, and our parks are true gems along the city’s “emerald necklace.” We hope our “Park of the Month” series will help you find greenspaces on the Atlanta BeltLine that you haven’t discovered yet, and maybe even show you something new about your favorite parks!
July’s Park of the Month is Gordon White Park. Located in Southwest Atlanta, Gordon White Park opened in 2008 as the Atlanta BeltLine’s first park and connects with the West End Trail, the Atlanta BeltLine’s first trail. The West End Trail runs along White Street to Westview Cemetery and connects West End, Mozley Park, and Westview.
In the fall, Gordon White Park is a popular location for musical events and has hosted the Atlanta Jazz Festival and many Art on the Atlanta BeltLine performances each fall. Across White Street, the Westside Trail is presently under construction, which will further connect this recreational space to the neighborhoods between Adair Park and Washington Park. Gordon White Park is close to other southwest Atlanta gems such as the Wren’s Nest, Bearings Bike Shop, and the Atlanta BeltLine’s first Urban Agriculture site.
The park has also hosted free Atlanta BeltLine fitness events, and is a featured part of the Run.Walk.GO! Race Series’ Southwest 5k.
More great events will continue over the summer and fall, so stay tuned to our events calendar. Or, take a stroll along the West End Trail and check out this park on your own!
