Westside Trail Open House Tour Recap

On June 6, 2015 Invest Atlanta, Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., and many others partnered to host the first Westside Trail Open House Walking Tour. Music, games, and fun lined the streets of the Adair Park neighborhood as over 500 future and current homeowners were introduced to available homes for sale near the Westside Trail.

The free public event showcased 18 homes throughout southwest Atlanta. The event was held in Adair Park, but also featured homes in the Capitol View, Capitol View Manor, Pittsburgh and Sylvan Hills neighborhoods. Along with presenting home buying opportunities, the organizations and event sponsors worked to enhance home buyer education through home buyer incentives and sessions.

The event catered to people on many levels of homeownership. Buyer education and financial wellness sessions were provided through mortgage lenders, real estate agents and home buyer educators. Attendees could attend any of the three host homes where sponsors provided homeownership advice focused on three areas:

Pre-Purchase: the 203k renovation loan process

Post-Purchase: historic preservation, foreclosure prevention and tax incentives available through the Department of Natural Resources

Community: updates on upcoming physical developments & neighborhood organizations

To ensure that attendees received all available information, “passports” were provided and stamped during each sponsor table visit. Attendees could then enter their passports for prize drawings. Even the kids enjoyed a day at the “Creative Corner” where they tapped into their imaginative minds to create their own dream homes.

In between the tours and sessions, attendees could also visit the Urban Farm and see the future Westside Trail areas. Attendees were encouraged to walk the event in order to get a sense of the neighborhoods, but shuttle transportation was also provided.

“The most successful aspect of the event, according to attendees, sponsors and participants was the positive energy experienced,” said Michele Lewis, Mortgage Loan coordinator for Invest Atlanta. “Many found the level of interest in the community, along with the neighborhood pride from current residents, inspiring.”

Both Invest Atlanta and the Atlanta BeltLine Inc. offer options for affordable housing through home buyer incentives for the Westside Trail, as well as other locations. 1. Hi Frances,
You can check out our website http://www.AtlantaBeltLineHomes.com for information on our downpayment assistance program. You can also search for homes for sale in southwest Atlanta on our home search website here: http://76942.ihf-omnipress.com/atlanta-beltline-southwest-home-listings/
The home search is limited to homes with a maximum purchase price of $200,000 since that is generally in line with our downpayment assistance program.
      I hope that helps!
      Jenny
