Pedestrian Improvements Complete on Willoughby Way

The Atlanta BeltLine recently completed street improvements on Willoughby Way, the residential street that leads to the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark.

With the opening of Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark, the Atlanta BeltLine sought to address increased traffic on Willoughby Way. The wide intersection at Ralph McGill Boulevard and Willoughby Way presented challenges for pedestrians crossing and for vehicles fully understanding the flow of traffic. The Atlanta BeltLine created an island to ensure cars made the proper turn and could see pedestrians and oncoming traffic better.

In the past few years, new residential developments have sprung up in Old Fourth Ward around the Eastside Trail and Historic Fourth Ward Park and Skatepark. As part of the planning and design process, the Atlanta BeltLine strives to work hand-in-hand with the community for the best possible experience between the trail and its surroundings.
